Get More From Your Tires
Tire maintenance is key and relatively easy to do. C.R. Smith wants you to get the most out of your tires, so we have put together some helpful tips to improve the life of your tires and avoid premature replacement.
Tire Balancing: Tire balance helps you have a smooth ride and even tire wear. When one or more of your tires are out of balance your steering column or wheel may shake. Additionally, your seats may vibrate when in motion.
Tire Inflation: Correct tire pressure is more important than people may think. The economic benefits alone are reason enough pay more attention to your tire pressure. When you have optimal tire pressure, you reduce tire wear, increase fuel efficiency, enhance handling, and prevent accidents. Tire pressure will decrease normally every day through permeation. In cooler weather, you will lose 1-2 pounds per month. In warmer weather, the number increases. So as you can see it changes often and should be checked often.
Tire Rotation: Timely tire rotations are important. Not only does this help reduce uneven wear but will extend the life of your tires. We recommend having your tires rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles.
Wheel Alignment: Not only is proper wheel alignment important but if it is out of alignment it can cause stress and unnecessary problems elsewhere. When wheels are out of alignment your car may drift to one side or the other, feel vibrations, and have uneven tire wear. It adds stress on tires, steering as well as your axels. We suggest having your wheels aligned every couple of years or when you purchase a set of new tires.
